ACTIVATORS - POINT SCORING SYSTEM We hope to achieve some of the aims of
the SCOTIA programme by having a points system that will reflect these aims and be
appropriate to the different categories of participants. We hope that participants will
familiarise themselves with the relevant details and will not experience too many
difficulties, if any.
ISLAND ACTIVATORS PARTICIPATING IN THE SCOTIA AWARD
PROGRAMME
(A) QUALIFYING ACTIVATION:
Any activator may seek accreditation within the SCOTIA programme for their
operation (any operation after 1st January 1996). The Awards Manager may, at his or her
discretion, request evidence of at least 100 QSOs , including at least 50 with non-UK and
non-Eire stations. He or she may also request sight of original logs (or photocopies)
and/or any evidence of permission to land and to operate.
Each licensed member of a team operation will be deemed to qualify, even if only one
call-sign is used, provided at least 200 QSOs are made, 100 of which must be outside the
UK or Eire.
Team operation is encouraged from a safety point of view.
(B) COST OF THE AWARD:
The Basic Award is issued free of charge to all UK activators reaching a total of
30 points.
European (inc. Eire) and DX stations may apply for a bonus of 30 points (and hence the
free Basic Award) after their first qualifying activation. Higher level stickers will also
be free for all activators.
Any eventual "trophy" above the "100" level will NOT be free of
charge.

(G) POINT LEVELS REQUIRED BY EUROPEAN (incl. EIRE) & DX
ACTIVATORS :
Non-UK activators require the same number of points for each level
of award, but may reach the required total by activating any islands they choose, and
acquiring points/bonus points according to the above points system. There are no
compulsory groups or minimum numbers in any given group.
N.B.: NO points are earned for repeat activations by
operators in any category (C), (D) or (E) - except under clause (E)(vii), which provides
bonus points to encourage return visits by non-UK operators.
